Aidiladha 1431H was rather subdued this year due to the floods. Many were still cleaning up their homes and belongings then. We celebrated it nonetheless.

After hours and hours of rainfall, floods poured in early this month. Our home was inundated within hours after the state government decided to open all the dam gates to avoid the swelling dam from bursting. The authorities patrolled the streets regularly. We sat outside on the balcony watching people passing by – walking, cycling, riding, driving or hitching a ride from lorries. The floods lasted for a few days. It was like a murky ocean out there. Having had the same experience a few years ago, it was quite a familiar sight. We survived nearly three weeks of no landline and Internet. That explains my silence in the cyberworld.
