Arising out of the horror of the Spanish Civil War, a candidate for canonization, Josemaría Escrivá (Charlie Cox), the controversial founder of Opus Dei, is investigated by a London–based investigative journalist, Robert Torres (Dougray Scott), who discovers his own estranged father, Manolo Torres (Wes Bentley), had a deep, dark and devastating connection to the saint's life.
