Some initial photos of a weekend island retreat with my family recently. The two islands, Dayang Bunting and Tuba are located in Langkawi. For more info on Langkawi, click here.
Our journey began on a ferry ride from Kuala Perlis Jetty in the state of Perlis Indera Kayangan to Kuah Jetty in Langkawi. Then, we took a boat from Kedah Cement Jetty in Kuah to the islands, Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pulau Tuba.
Pulau Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Island) is the second largest island in Langkawi District. The island gets its name from its unique shape and a legend that surrounds the freshwater lake, Tasik Dayang Bunting. Its waters are said to possess magical powers that will enable barren women to conceive if they drink water from the lake. The island has impressive limestone hills and most of the island is still covered by dense forest.

Pulau Tuba is one of the few inhabited islands and the third largest in Langkawi. More on Pulau Tuba: www.langkawi-beaches.com
